Today, I found two things that amused me enough to share them. This is just a small entry and I know I haven’t posted much lately. But it’s been .. a weird couple of days. So here they are —
The first was a YouTube video by Gary Turk called ‘Look Up.’ I recommend taking a look at it and actually listening to what it has to say. It might make you rethink a few things that you do on a regular basis.
The second is a book called ‘Soulpancake’ by Rainn Wilson (yes, the guy from ‘The Office’). It’s an incredibly thought-provoking book and I found a page that somewhat plays off of the YouTube video I linked above. The page I found states the following :
Playlist for People Watching.
Life can be an intense, chaotic, and confusing experience that we race through with blinders on. Let’s pause for a moment and take it all in. “When we get too caught up in the busyness of the world, we lose connection with one another — and ourselves.” — Jack Kornfield.
- Step one — Go to a crowded public place.
- Step two — Put on your headphones. Hit ‘play.’
- Step three — Sit back, watch the world — and the souls you share it with — go by.
I’ve spent the day at Barnes & Noble doing exactly that. Just listening to music and watching people go through their lives. It’s been interesting, to say the least. And nice.
